Resetting the Universe

Buddhism is not so difficult. You just have to reset the whole of universe. That's all. Once you reset the whole of the universe, you have begun to see what Buddhism is.

If you think that the universe is something external, then of course, you cannot reset it. But if you think the whole of the universe is held in your mind, then if you reset your mind, you may think that you have reset the whole of universe. But the universe is neither something exclusively external, nor exclusively internal. It is both. Then you may say, if it is both, I can only do something about the internal part of the universe, but I cannot reset the external part of the universe. The thing is, the universe is not divided into two parts, it is a whole. So then you could say, how is it possible to reset the whole of universe, if a person is not a whole of the universe. But a person, just like the universe, also has its subject and object, its subjective and its objective aspect. But again, these two are not divided, not separated, they are one. So although you think that you do something subjectively, for example you make a decision in your mind, it is not just your decision, it is a decision of the whole universe. Because you cannot be separated from the universe, everything you do is done by the universe, too. For example, when you look at the sun, it seems you cannot move it or make it bigger or smaller. Objectively, it is so. The sun, as an object, is something we cannot do anything about. But the sun is not only and object, it is also something that is expressed individually. So when you move and hide behind a wall, the sun disappears, it doesn't shine on you any more. When you go back, it appears again. It seems the sun itself sets behind the horizon, but it is the Earth that decided to hide the Sun. But although the Sun has already set, you can climb a hill and see the sun again. So I am not saying we can do anything just when we decide to do it, I just mean that we are not separated from things happening in the universe, and we also somehow create the universe. When you close your eyes, everything disappears, when you open them, things appear. So when we practice zazen, we are not just some kind of ordinary people, but we are also a buddha. That means we are a kind of universe. Buddha is not just a person. Buddha is a kind of universe. It is the whole of universe. When we sit in zazen, we can somehow feel that we are the whole of universe, but no matter if we feel it or not, we are the whole of universe. When we practice zazen, the whole of universe is practicing zazen, the whole of universe is Buddha. When we are angry, the whole of universe is angry. When we eat ice cream, the whole of universe eats ice cream.

So when we reset the universe, everything is Buddha, everything we do is awakening, everything is bright. How to reset the universe? Just sitting here and now, without thinking or no thinking, there is nothing to add or subtract from the universe. Maybe we had been upset or exhausted or too emotional, but now, as we go back to zero, everything is zero, in other words, nothing is added to the universe. IT seems this is impossible to do, but we can see clearly that the universe itself doesn't reset itself. It goes about freely, or according to physical laws. When it has to explode, it will explode. When it wants to shine, it will shine. But it doesn't need to reset itself. We have to reset it. Because we create one aspect of the universe. So when one person sits, the person creates the whole of universe. When a doctor comes, she cannot see anyone creating anything, she will see a patient. Oh, the monk has a sick heart. But the monk creates the universe. Both is true, objectively, there is a sick heart, subjectively there is nothing to add or hide. Reality is just what is here and now. Beyond you or me or them. So when I say Buddha resets the universe, it is wrong. Objectively it is impossible. Subjectively very easy, subjectively you can do anything. But in reality, what happens in reality?
When I say reset the universe, of course, you won't reset the universe objectively. And I don't mean just imagine you have reset the universe. I mean when you reset the universe, completely, it won't be objective or subjective, it will be something words cannot catch. We say Buddha, but most people mean somebody, or historical Buddha. But Buddha means to reset the Whole of Universe. So Buddha is somebody who drops subject, object and throws himself or herself into Reality. Once they have appeared in Reality, the Universe is reset. SO they didn't do it subjectively or in their dreams. And they didn't' do it objectively, either. They must have done it beyond subject and object, by throwing themselves into Reality.

When we discuss buddhas having reset the Universe, we are not experiencing the reset. Just like when we are discussing awakening, we are not necessarily experiencing awakening. So discussing resetting the universe is only useful, when there is encouragement for us to reset the universe, or in other words, if there is encouragement to experience reality completely. It is not necessary to experience reality completely all the time, but from time to time it is useful to reset the universe and experience reality completely. Especially after a lot of stress or troubles, or upsetting circumstances, we may reset the universe and experience things completely, just as they are, again.
